The Revolutionary US$10 Billion Project Indywood Launched at Rajasthan

18.01.2017, Jaipur, Rajasthan: During a press conference conducted at Rajasthan on 18th January 2017, Mr. Sohan Roy, a globally acclaimed filmmaker, entrepreneur, unveiled ‘Project Indywood’, a US$10 Billion initiative to elevate India as a global hub of the film industry. This revolutionary concept was conceptualised by Mr. Roy to bring comprehensive and innovative changes in the production, screening and marketing strategies as well as the business model of the Indian Cinema.

Though, the largest film producing nation in the world, India lags behind the global standards in terms of quality of distribution and exhibition of films, ranking far behind in the list of the best movie making industries in the world. The lag is mainly due to the fragmentation of the industry on the basis of language and geographical barriers within the country. With 100 set targets, this 10 Billion USD investment in India will be channelled through a consortium of 2000 corporate and multi millionaires to initiate 10,000 new 4K projection multiplex screens, 100,000 2K projection home cinemas, film studios, animation/ VFX studios and film schools conforming to international standards. Other features of the project include promoting the concept of film tourism by bringing in international film projects, industrial delegates and tourists to India, launching international co-production projects from India using Indian talents, formation of India based ' World Film Society' to operate as the integration hub of the world film industry and its associations, establishing world's largest film school, animation school and media school in India, establishing copyright protection and antipiracy measures in India to protect film and music industries, to introduce the concept of CSR movies in India to support the debutante directors and producers and many more.

Another important mission of the project was to organize the first film carnival in India with film festival, film market, red carpets, awards, entertainments, theme parks, talent hunt, excellence awards, conferences, panel discussions, networking parties and investor meets.

Project Indywood took wings with the first edition of Indywood Film Carnival at Cochin. The event was scheduled from 15 – 19 November 2015 at 6 six different venues. After the successful first edition, the carnival returned with its second edition at the world’s largest film studio, Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad from 24 – 27 September 2016. The event shall celebrate Cinematic Brilliance and shall incorporate more unique sessions, interesting rendezvous with the eminent filmmakers, exciting film trade and business opportunities, networking sessions and entertaining programs. Expanding its horizons, the event will encompass various verticals of film industry, including special country pavilions, regional pavilions focussing on regional films to explore and increase their demand in international markets. Indywood Talent Hunt, the next generation platform to stardom shall judge talented artists in 19 different categories. Enthused with the spirit of entertainment, competition and learning, this shall be a one of a kind event that will mark the beginning of a new journey for every individual to realize their dreams.

Designed in line with honourable Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi's, 'Make in India' policy, Indywood aims to integrate the fragmented Indian film industry by exploring new avenues of market for Indian cinema and promoting regional contents in international market, exchanging local technologies and man power, initiating global networking of major production houses and introducing collaborative ventures making use of local talent ‘Project Indywood', is without doubt a launching pad for the Indian film industry to launch itself to the dizzy heights of global leadership.
